The Tour kicked off at the Isle of Purbeck. A course with some stunning views across Poole Harbour and possible the slowest greens any of us have ever encountered. So if you see an Orsett golfer putting off the greens later this year he probably went on "the tour". That said the course had some lovely holes and only one player (Glen Mullet) beat his handicap scoring 37 points. Second place being Steve Biggin and then Fin Cotter.
The second day involved miles of country lanes to play Rushmore. A course of two parts with several holes in stunning "Country House" parkland with some super mature trees and a kind of bolt on series of less mature but OK holes. Simon Micklewaite rose from the ashes of an absence of playing much golf to earn a win with 41 points beating both Steve McSweeney and Steve Evans by a single point.
Day 3 was a pleasant course at Crane Valley which had a series of nice holes featuring the Crane River. The highlight of the golfing tour was a Hole in One by Rob Slaughter on the 13th. Sadly Rob didn't see it go in but he had plenty of time for celebratory photos as shown below. Shaun Patient won the day with 40 points with Steve Evans his nearest rival on 37.
Bournemouth was good choice of venue though late arrivals each day meant we were slightly rushed to get out. That said a number of the "clubs" seemed to have benefitted from our custom and at least one Sclubber was noted to be heading of to the cash dispenser in order to prolong his nights entertainment!!!
Steve McSweeney saw off challenges from a bunch of near rivals and proved a worthy winner in what was a close run race. The weekend was rounded off with a roaring rendition of Sweet Caroline on the bus (it was after all dear Howard's birthday that day) so remember No Gimmees.
Finally Norman's Numpty's trounced the so called Tony's Terriers, who clearly proved less ferocious than the name implied and perhaps should have been Tony's Tabby Cats.
